I'm liking this week a lot: Aruba!

March 21, 2013: Aruba
It was another great day! The morning went slowly as we were waiting to get to Aruba. We took out Apples to Apples and played that until lunchtime. It was the first time some of them had played it. They were amused by it, so we’ll probably play it again a few times (it’s a step up from playing cards over and over and over).

I had a quick lunch before going up to Club HAL. There was a general drill after we got to Aruba and Chrissy had to go since she’s newly embarked; someone had to work Club HAL so we’d filled out an excusal form for me. One kid came and we played Wii Sports until the drill was over and Chrissy came back at 2.

I ran downstairs to get changed and get my stuff together for the crew excursion. Charlotte waited for me and we were outside only a few minutes late- we weren’t the last at least. Once everyone was there and had signed waivers for the snorkeling part, we were lead to the Catamaran. It was a great 45 minute sail to the place where we could snorkel. Most of us were laying out near the front getting some sun and talking and taking pictures. We stopped where a lot of other boats were and saw others snorkeling, different companies doing different tours. They gave us instructions on how to do everything properly and we were set free to snorkel. Ana and Jessie jumped off the side and I got pictures of them in the process! Kayleigh and I were the only ones of our group who didn’t want to jump so we got off by the stairs.

There was so much to see! Above water, my goggles were very streaked and made everything blurry, but underwater everything was clear. I saw a lot of different types of fish and plants and some coral. I actually swam through a school of little tiny fish. It was a lot of fun. Now I think I’m going to have to invest in underwater housing for my camera so that I can take it snorkeling with me next time I go! Snorkeling is definitely more of an individual activity once you’re under water, but there was always a chance you’d run into someone because you’re looking under the water instead of the surface where everyone else was. I turned into a few people a couple of times. They blew the horn and we all had to get back on. We took a lot of pictures then to, with the lines from the masks on our faces. The ride back seemed rather quick, I was stretched out trying to get some sun while talking with Kayleigh, Jessie and some others. It was over before I knew it.

Kayleigh, Jessie and I made plans to go back out once we’d changed and cleaned up a bit. We meant to meet two of the HAL Cats and all go out together, but they were nowhere to be found so we just left a note on their door. We did meet some of the other crew and got internet for a bit before Justin and August showed up and we all went to a place to eat dinner. It was fun getting time to hang out off-ship; it’s the first time I’ve eaten off the Zuiderdam and I was very grateful for it! I had to go back to work to help Chrissy out for a bit so Kayleigh and I left a bit earlier than Jessie and the boys.

I covered for Chrissy for 30 minutes while she worked on stuff. All we did really was play “Where’s my shoe?” I had some difficulties with the ages again tonight, which wasn’t fun to sort out. Chrissy’s had trouble with the older boys as well, so she’s going to talk to their parents.

The teens and I went to the Lido pool party to eat and dance until we just got tired of it and decided to head back up to the Loft to hang out the rest of the night. We did trivia questions. One of their dads is apparently really good at trivia so they all wanted to see how well they could do. Next thing I knew, it was after 12!
