August 7, 2013: Venice embark
I slept in today for once. Partially because I knew I wasn’t going to make it to breakfast before it closed and I didn’t have anything really to do before lunch anyway. I was really hungry by the time lunch opened though. I had a long, leisurely lunch with Linda and one of the stage managers before going upstairs for Open House. We had a short Open House today and 4 of us worked it, so it wasn’t really that busy ever. I spent the whole time writing our hours down onto the forms for parents and talking to a few of the families that came into the room and acknowledged me. 240 kids are on board this cruise, but only about 15 of them came up to Open House. We’re going to be busy with registering on the sea day (the day after we leave Venice) I think though.
A new cruise director came on today to fill in while Dave’s on vacation, so we had a full entertainment department meeting, which lasted about 15 minutes right in the middle of our break between Open House and dinner. There was no time to go to shore or to do anything productive before dinner, so I played Spider Solitare on my computer until dinnertime.
It was a quiet night in the tween room. About 10 came in the first half hour, and a few more before snack. They weren’t very talkative though, either they’re all quiet in general or all very shy.
